In the eeeond round of the amateur (tolf championship, Francis Ouimet (United States) boat Bernard Darwin, gemi-hnalist in the 1909 and 1921 championships, 3 up and 2 to play. Up to the third round six American players have dropped out. After the defeat of all the Australian and New Zealand .competitors in the ladies' open golf championship, Miss Cumminge (United States) is the only formidable overseas player left. — (A. and N.Z.
