THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
A successful garden party was given by their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Jellicoe at the Government House yesterday. This afternoon Lord Jellicoe paid a visit to H.M.s. Chatham to farewell a number of officers and men who are shortly to leave on their return to England. He then addressed the ship's company. His Excellency then left for Takapuna where he unveiled the memorial gates at the Takapuna Public School. This evening his Excellency is giving an official dinner party to the Governor of American Samoa, Captain Edwin T. Pollock and his officers. The dinner will be followed by a email dance. , On Saturday afternoon their Excellencies will be present at the opening of the Pakuranga Hunt Club at East Tamaki, and 011 the way back to town Lord Jellicoe will probably call in at Alexandra Park to witness the baseball match to be played between teams from the U.S.s. Ontario and Auckland. In the evening Lord Jellicoe will attend the Savage Club's Korero in the Scots' Hall.
