Chard for the position by 811 votes to 110. Mr. Chard was formerly president of the Wellington Union, and latterly * member of the executive of the Seamen» Federation. The report of the returning officer (Mr. A. Parlane) regarding the ballot for the secretaryship wasl BUDmitted to a stop-work meeting of w union at Wellington, but the fignree I°' other positions in the local unioni »t Auckland and Dunedin -were not available, as the counting of the votes W not yet been completed. .
