FARMING INTERESTS.

ENLARGED POOLING SCHEME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.} WELLINGTON, this day. At a meetinjr of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union yesterday. Mr. O. C. Wilkinson (Riwaka) explained a scheme of national co-opera-tion, referred to in a Nelson remit: "That with the object of effecting economies in the management and handling of produce of the soil and the tillers thereof, this executive endorses the scheme of national co-operation of producers to control the marketing of all produce, live stock, etc., and conduct all business incidental to the welfare of farmers." Mr. Wilkinson advocated the combination of every form of rural activity, including poultrymen, fruitgrowers, pigkeepers, beekeepers, etc., as well as dairymen and pastoralists. in one large farmers' association. This association, he urged, should have a capital of five millions, and assume complete control of the handling and marketing of all produce at present done by a diversity of commercial firms. He maintained that the system suggested would greatly benefit farmers generally. After some discussion the remit was referred back to the Nelson Provincial Conference for further consideration, it being pointed out that the question could then be brought before the Dominion Conference to be held later on.
