ONEHUNGA TRAM SERVICE.
(To the EditoK) Sir, —Wishing to visit Epsom on Sunday, I reached Newmarket at 2.40 p.m., and added my person to the number of those already waiting for Onehunga cars. During my 50 minutes' sojourn at that important centre six cars from the city passed through en route to Bemucra and two for Victoria Avenue. Xone of these cars had more than half their complement of passengers, the Victoria Avenue cars being practically empty. In addilion to the aforementioned cars, another six cars arrived from the city via Parnell practically empty, and returned to the city by the same route in much the same condition. At 3.5 pm. an Onehunga ear did put in an appearance, and over 80 prospective passengers moved from the sidewalks to board the already crowded car. About half a dozen people were accommodated with standing space, and the other SO nil moved back to the footpath to await the next car, which duly arrived at 3.25 p.m., and another half dozen managed to find standing room before the chains barred the rest. Wliat takes such a crowd of people to Onehunga I don't know, but the fact remains. On Sunday afternoon Broadway is always crowded with people who wish to go there. The place is a junction, and if the management were awake a number of cars for Onehunga would commence their run from that point. As things are at present, Remuera, Parnell, and XcnYmarket residents cannot go by tram to Onehunga on Sunday afternoon unless they first go to the city or wait until about five o'clock, when the bulk of the Onehunga traffic has been dealt with.—l am. etc., PARXELL RESIDENT.
