PERSONAL.
Mr. B. L. Dallard, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Messrs. G. A. Miller and W. G. Macindoe, of Auckland, are visiting Napier. Mr. W. Simms, Wellington, was a passenger by the Tofua, which left on Saturday for the Western Pacific Islands. Mr. Justice Stringer, who has been in Hamilton, presiding over the Supreme Court sittings, returned to Auckland yesterday. The Governor-General announces that he has recognised the appointment of Mr. G. H. Richardson, jun., as Vice-Consul of ■the United States at Auckland. Messrs. A. S. Jupp (of Honolulu), 11. M. Gordon Clark (London), S. H. Hammond (Sydney), A. J. Hyder, G. A. Ginn, H. E. AndeTson, and O. Newman (of Wellington) are included among those at the Grand Hotel. Captain F. A. Hardy, who has been marine survey-or at Auckland for the past seven years, and has been promoted senior surveyor at Port Chalmers, leaves ! by this evening's express to take up his j new duties. Mr. A. Spencer, president of the Auckland Employers' Association, and Mr. J. W. Jaggs, vice-president, leave for Wellington to-night to attend the conference called by the Minister for Labour to : consider the proposed bill concerning apprentices. Mr. J. D. Gray, Secretary for External I Affairs, and Mr. J. Hislop, Under-Secre- ' tary for Internal Affairs, who are in j Auckland in connection with the visit of ' Captain Edwin Pollock, Governor of \ American Samoa, are both staying at the Grand Hotel.
