A THRIFTY SCOT.
A well-known Aberdonian had occasion recently to visit) London on business. On arrival he was met by his agent, and- as it was a fine, mild morning, the latter suggested that the visitor should leave the heavy coat he was carrying in the cloak-room until the evening, when be was returning to Aberdeen.. The canny Scot, however, would not do so. but walked along Euston Road until he came to a pawnshop, which he entered, and asked two shillings on his coat. For the ticket he paid one half-penny. After completing his business he redeemed his coat at the expense of another halfpenny, thus saving the cloak-room charge "f threepence, or otherwise twopence to the good How's that for thrift? _
