Funds could be furnished for development and improY-ements by i tour tax of one shilling a day collected on hotel bills, and value for this should be given by the institution of orchestras, good streets, and paths. He was enchanted with the Maoris. They we*, gentlemen and ladies by nature and It.minded him mostly of pure unadulterated Arabs. The entertainments pro> Y'ided by the Maoris and the recreation! in Government gardens, he considered, quite sufficient for tourists. They did not want more, the Government buildings were well kept. He Yvas delighted with the Government gardens and tig splendid show and variety of flower!, I and was agreeably pleased with the main bath building, its upkeep, and especially its up-to-date equipments. He hopes the Government will introduce the Spalllinger serum and vaccine for checking and stamping out tuberculosis, especially among Maoris. Mr. Julian Grand Y\-ith his brother-in-law. Mr. J. L.
