ANGORA POLITICAL MURDER.
ORGANISER OF MASSACRES. THE MURDERER OF ALL CONSTANTINOPLE, April 4. The body of Ali Chuki Bey was found near the house of Topal 'Jsjman Ala, a former leader of irregular bands, whom Kemal rewarded with a colonelcy. Ali was apparently strangled and his body partially buried. A strong force of gendarmerie surrounded the house where Topal and his band were taking refuge, and n sharp engagement followed. Ten of Topal's followers were killed and he himself succunil>cd to wounds. The Premier informed the National Assembly that the murder of Ali was the result of a personal quarrel.— (Renter.) LONDON, April 4. The "Daily Telegraph's" Constantinople correspondent says that Osman Afa for years organised massacres of Christians and robberies of Greek churches, by which he is reputed to have amassed a fortune of £500,000. His body is to be hanged by the legs from a gibbet in front of tho Xational Assembly. So ends a career of crime and violence for the equal of which one must go back to the dark ages. Osman has recently been increasing his political power, and might soon have rivalled Chuki Bey as a critic, of the Oovernment. Thus two awkward men have been removed as the result of a purely personal quarrel.—(A. and N.Z.) STABBED AND STRANGLED. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, April 4. The "Daily Mails Constantinople correspondent states that the story extracted from Osman's confederates shows that Chuki was decoyed to a house, slashed about the head with a dagger while drinking coffee, and then strangled with a cord. — (United Service.)
