A man named John Burke, an employee at the Mangaiti llaxniill, was walking along the railway line to M»ngaiti. when he was overtaken by the Frankton-Paeroa train, which struck him and he was found on one side of the rails in a semi-conscious condition. The engine-driver apparently was nol aware of the accident, but the jtroaiis of the man attracted attention, and medical aid was quickly sought. The victim sustained a serious gash on the skull, beside other injuries. He was .admitted to the Waikato Hospital. He is expected to recover.
