RESULTS AXn PrUZF.S. <By T»srapU.—Own. Correspondent.) WAIHI. this day. The twenty-sixth annual meeting of the Waihi School o( Mines was hold, the other evening, the president. Mr. W. If. Johnston, in the. chair. The annual report showed that the results of the examinations held in December have again been highly satisfactory. There were "2 first-class, 10 second-class, and six thirdclass passes, a total of 48, at Waihi, and tour firsts, t«o seconds and one third, « total of seven, at Waikino, making a grand total of 5.> passes for the combined classes, a result much better than that achieved by any other school of mines in the Dominion. The percentage of marks gained was about 67, showing a very high standard.
Following were the prize winners at the annual examination:—The president's gold medal (presented by Mr. W. H. Johnston) for mining.. subjects, E. Williams; gold medal for mathematics (presented by Mr. F. Haszard, vicepregident), NT. Y. Morton; qualitative and quantitative analysis, Jabez Beeston; theoretical chemistry, junior N\ F. Morton and K. Haslett senior; electrical engineering, J. Keane; practical mathematics, senior ('. Jennings, junior John Beeston; electrical engineering, H. Spottiswood and J . Talbot; mechanical drawing, J. Keane; electrical engineering (Waikino), H. Phillips and R. W. Whitehouee.
The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patrons, H. Poland, M.P., and the member , for Tauranga; president, Mr. W. If. Johnston; vice-presidentH, Messrs. M. F. Haszard and A. J.
