FIFTY YEARS A NUN.

(From Onr Own Correspondent.) SUVA, March 17. Sister Octavien. of St. Joseph's Convent, on March HI. celebrated her golden jubilee as a member of the Order of St. Joseph de Cluny. His Lordship Bishop Xieolas presided over the jubilee celebrations in the Catholic cathedral. Sister Octavien was born in Rathdowney. Queens County, Ireland, and now celebrates the fiftieth year of her religious profession. She pronounced her vows at the mother house in Paris in 1873. In 1875 she went to Xew Caledonia, and just 28 years ago she came to Fiji, where she has worked ever since without once going outside the Xolony. A sojourn of 48 years in the tropics is rare indeed for a woman, and Sister Octavien hae been the recipient of many tokens of the love and high esteem in which she is held by all sections of the community who have the honour to know her.
