FEMININE FOOTWEAR.
THE PRIDE OF XEW ZEALAND. CREDIT TO AUCKLAND MAKER. Whether it is, in one writer's words, "high-class ladies' shoes,"' or rather'bigh-t-lass shoes for ladies, the discriminating 'buyers amongst the fairer sex in Auckland and elsewhere in New Zealand have learnt to their every advantage tbe superiority that is associated with the name of Barton, the well-known Auckland manufacturer, the product of whose larize factory at Kingsland created such a. sensation in the industrial section at the last winter exhibition.
Mr. Barton has set a very high standard in the making of ladies' shoes, the designs both in shape and materials being such as to render them equal to the best imported. But a special superiority in the ■•Barton"' shoe is its durability, tor the manufacturer is able to appreciate local anrl Dominion domands and conditions, as distinct from the maker abroad. This, capped with the fact that "Barton" shoes are not loaded on to the Xew Zealand distributors with freight and duties to pay—always added to the imported shoes—gives " the "Barton"' product a marked distinction in good value.
'•BARTON"' -SHOES PREFERRED. The up-to-date factory is consequently t hive of happy industry. The output of trhite shops is phenomenal, over 10,000 pairs being made for the Season just Concluding, and many orders having to be refused' A feature is th« large variety of coloured leather nhoea. and in this respect the "•Barton" makes well fulfil j the requirements in advanced fashion, | the fawn, greys, blacks, ni?2Pr and other | ehades in glace, patent and suede are Offered in a wonderful variety of dressy de.MsTi?. whilst satin shoes for social and •veninc wear are constantly in demand. This of course enlails very caretiil manufacture, and Barton's factory is certainly the last word in modern machinery for the purpose. Mr Barton is too keen and cautious a business man to make exaggerated claims about his accomplishments, but he deserves every ounce of credit for the plane to which he has elevated the New j Zealand footwear industry, especially m the exclusive manufacture of lad.c* ■boo?.
