WAR PENSIONS FRAUD.
PERSONATED HIS BROTHER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALAIERSTOX NORTH, tins day. Tn the Police Court to-day, Tames Stuart, farmer, of Polianjrina district, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sent?nce on two charges om personating , .lonn Pttiatf, deceased, with intent to fraudulently obtain two instalments of deceased's war pension. The police stated that accused and deceased were brothers, and were living on a farm in Pohanginn. On the death of John (Stuart, his brother liad s°ne to the Post Office and successfully made application for instalments of deceased's war pension. Counsel for accused said the latter had l.>een drawing his brother's pension prior to liis death, and thought lie was entitled to do so afterwards. The money obtained was applied to funeral expenses and deceased"* debts. The amount had since been refunded.
