DENTAL OPERATIONS
THE ANAESTHESIA QUESTION.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIX, this day:" Prominent dentists concur m Dr. ; Pearson's views that general anaesthesia ' should take place in a home or in a hospital. One stated that it was an accepted fact that grave risk attended administering an anaesthetic in a sitting posture. Some dentists had it given in . a prone position on the operating chair, I afterwards raising the chair into position for the operation. There was a risk, however, especially with chloro- . form, under which peculiar things sometimes happened. There was also the ' point that where a patient was in a ; home there wa/S assurance of proper J preparation for the anaesthetic. I Another dentist stated that very often i a dental operation was more dangerous than ordinary surgery. There was often ; more bleeding, with the consequent dani ger of hindering breathing.
