OBITUARY.
4 MR. JAMES DALRYMPLE INNES. The death last Friday at Tatuanui of James Dalrymple limes at the age of 73 years removes from our midst a man* who had spent a long life in the Dominion, after going through a very varied experience of life. He was born y in India, being the son of the late Munro ; 'e Ross Innes, who hold many important j; 1 offices in the East. He was a schooli- master in the Taranaki and Wanganui 0 districts for many years. He was a '_ man of much culture, and maintained a t. wide correspondence with many of the I 1 leading literary authorities of the world. „. He was intensely fond of reviews. He also had ideas about reforming the social conditions of the worid, and ranked amongst his correspondents the k late Andrew Carnegie. Of late years d he had been living in retirement with '- his youngest son, surrounded by his c books and his magazines. He is sure vived by his widow and a large family , of boys and girls
