Atack, hon. secretary of the 5 New Zealand Boxing Council, in recogni- ! I tion of services rendered by him to box--1 ! ing. particularly as secretary of the New " Zealand Council for 21 years. The cheque 3 . was handed over at a complimentary » | gathering by Dr. Simpson, president of ■ | the Christchurch Sports Club, who said 1 ' it was subscribed by boxing associations 1 I from Whangarei to Invercargill, as well 1i as by private, friends. The proud posit | tion of boxing in New Zealand was a | largely due to Mr. Atack, who had also i been closely associated with other I sports. Complimentary speeches were II made by several other sportsmen. '. I Mr. Atack, replying, said he had als ] ways tried to carry out the rules of the i ' Council, and all questions of policy had f been referred to the Council. He had a ! never worked on a body equal to the t I boxing council.
