After being released the unfortunate man was removed to a place of safety and medical aid was summoned. Drmlop's injuries arc of a rather shocking nature. His right leg badly smashed aboii*. the knee, and his left leg and both arms, face and head sustained severe lacerations. His hack is also injured. The extent of internal injuries is not yet known. Had it not been for I'dulop's line constitution and splendid physique it is doubtful if be would have survived.
The accident, occurred in the SS'aihl K.xtcntled section of the (Irani! Junction mine, about, 1000 feet, in from the shaft. The injured man was a member of the Thames crew which won the champion v.lialcboat race at Auckland Anniversary Regatta in 1004. and is connected wit|l an old and prominent Thames family.
