WAIUKU PRESENTATION.
<By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIUKU, Friday. On Thursday night a farewell smoke concert was held in honour of Mr. and I Mrs. R. T. Reid, of Waiuku. Mr. Keid | has been a resident of Waiuku for some j twelve years, being chairman of the ! Waiuku Town Board for seven years 1 and a member of the Franklin County Council since its inception. He now goes to Hamilton to become mine host .of the Waikato Hotel in that town. | About fifty settlers and- townsmen gathered to wish their comrade goodbye and good luck. I *Mr. Claude Mason, another member iof the Franklin County Council was in the chair, and after the toast to the King proposed that of Mr. and Mrs. Reid, mentioning that the progress of Waiuku and the subsidy advanced by the Government, were due largely to the untiring energy of Mr. Reid as chairman of the board. The speaker also remarked on the great part played by Mr. Keid in the sporting life of the district, .reminding those present that the guest of the evening was the prime movcfjjin the inauguration of the Waiuku Point ito Point, which proved such a success. j On behalf of residents ganerally, Mr. and Mrs. Reid were then presented with a handsome silver-mounted tray, with a cut glass decanter and six cut glasses, and from the Waiuku Hunt Club with half a-dozen silver spoons suitably cased. A number of musical and humorous | items were rendered by local talent, the ' evening proving a great success.
