POSITION' QUITE SOUND. ,_ (By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Strong criticism was recently offered of the Wellington municipal finances, one ex-Mayor contending that the city was some f30,000 to the bad, if not more, »*! that general extravagance was ( shown in-expenditure. The Mayor, on the other hand, asserts that the financial position is quits sound, and that the overdraft this year would oe much behrv the amount of revenue outstanding. After cutting down estimates it was found they were still ttflOO above revenue, but the Mayor says that a strong effort will be made to overcome this and most of it will be saved.
