SWIMMING.

AUCKLAND CENTRE. A special meeting of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last evening, Mr. A. J. Fernandez occupying the chair. Some discussion took place concerning the request of the Auckland Carnival' Committee that the centre conduct a swimming carnival to aid the funds; and a special programme was approved. In order to arrange for star attractions the centre hu requested the New Zealand Council of the Swimming Association to permit the invitation of Miss G. Shand (CbristcJrarch) anil Miss M. Wylie (New South Wales) to compete at the carnival. Miss Wylle and » chaperone are leaving Sydney to-day by the Manuka for Auckland, and will be dot here next Tuesday afternoon.
