OBITUARY.

THE EARL OF PLYMOUTH. LOXDOX, March 7. The Earl of Plymouth died suddenly after attending a levee at St. James' Palace. He was (15 years of age, and was Paymaster-General from 18H1 to 1892 and First Commissioner of Works from 1002 to 1905. He was the fourteenth Baron Windsor, and was created an earl in 1005.—(A. and X.Z. Cable.)

GENERAL SIR OWEN THOMAS.

L/OXDOX, March 7. The dentil Ts announced of BrigadierGeneral Sir Owen Thomas, Independent M.P. for Anglesey. General Sir Owen Thomas raised and commanded the Prince of Wales Light Horse in the South African war, and raised 10 service battalions of the Royal Weigh Fusiliers in Xor'th Waloe in 1914-1015. He was elected to Parliament in 1918 as a Labour supporter of "the Coalition, 'but stood at the last general election as an Independent.—(A. and X.Z. Cable.)

LONDON*. .March 7. Obituary.-'-James Jebusa Shannon, R.A., aged 61 years. James Shannon was American-born, but went to England at the age of sixteen years, and steadily acquired fame as an artist. He is chiefly known as a portrait painter, and has exhibited at all the important exhibitions of Britain, Europe and America.
