A POPULAR REGISTRAR
A representative gathering of the legal prac- i Miners of Auckland, took place yesterday afternoon, at the Magistrate's Court library, to make a presentation to Mr. F. W. Schramm, who has recently retired from the position of Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court at Ajckland, into private practice as a solicitor.
Mr. John Alexander, president of the Auckland Law Society, said that it was not a comnaon thing for presentations of this nature to be made, but that Mr. Schramm in his years of dealing with the practitioners here, had so earned their esteem and respect that some of his many frien»s in the legal world were taking this opportunity of expressing in a tangible form their thanks for, and appreciation of, Mr. Schramm's invari able helpful courtesy. Mr. Schramm had not only served tbe Justice Department efficiently and well, but he had always gone out of hia way to be helpful to the public and to the practitioners. In the opinion of the whole of the profession, the Justice Department suffered a severe loss when such a capable and efficient officer left the service.
Mr. Schramm suitably and feelingly replied, stating that, if in the course of bis duty, be had at the same time earned the liking and respect of the profession, then in -.hat alone he felt more than repaid.
