A FATAL FIRE.
WOMAN SUCCUMBS TO BURNS. CITY DWELLING GUTTED. BRIGADE'S GOOD SAVE. Sad consequences attended an outbreak of fire, which occurred in the centre of a block of buildings near the corner of Hobson and Victoria Streets last night, a woman. Mrs. S. A. Clark, 74. succumbing in the hospital as the result of burns received. The call was received by the City Fire Brigade at 8.40, and on arrival it was at once to be seen that the tire had secured a firm hold on a three-roomed cottage. No. 73. Hobson Street. The deceased Mrs. Clark, was found on the floor in the front bedroom. Evidently she had been in bed with the candle alight, when by some means the wall cansjht tire, the flames quickly spreading to flip beilclothes, enveloping the whole room. The unfortunate woman was at once removed to the hospital in the ambulance but she died not long after her admission.
