MOUNT EDEN DESTRUCTOR.

(To the Kilitnr.) >ir.— 'Sour correspondent "Ratepayer" considers it is joking to suggest that the refuse from Mount Albert and Mount Roskill should be carted to the mountain reserve, but he omits to mention anything about Newmarket. No doubt the Newmarket Borough Council and the other local bodies consider it a good joke that the .Mount Eden Council.are so anxious for them to send their tilth and rubbish to Dominion Hoad. The property owners and residents in the vicinity of the proposed site can however, see no joke in the proposal that these vile smelling carts be sent to their doors. It appears to be the ititention of these so-called progressive conneillors to make part of the district a slum area. The electric light is being installed on Mount Eden Road, but the most progressive part of the district, Dominion Road, will have to ■wait until our friends on the hill are supplied first.—l am, etc., NOT IN THE JOKE.
