Despite unfavourable weather conditions there was quite a larre attendance of admits and young people at the first picnic and .fudging -competition held by the recently formed local Jersey Breeders' Hub at the Showgrounds. (Tarnhridce. on Saturday afternoon last. The junior judging competition resulted:—Primary schools: J. and A. Tare. 14 points" difference from .judge's flfftires. 1: L. Car! and A. R. Gascolgne. In points' difference. :i. For this competition Mr. J. T. Entwistle's beautiful three-year-old, r.angollen's Queen, pedigree cow was used for judging. Juniors, under 20: Duncan Wallace X. E. Wnrrinstmi 2. <;. I Stevenson 3. Yearlings used In this event. I fornpetitiors were called on to select best three. The u-lnner selected the same three ! as Judge. Ladies' Judging: Misses M. f'hv- ! nofrcHi 1. H. f'hynoweth 2. Mrs. Goodwin i 3. Nine cows were in the ring, competitors to select three best and place same in order > of merit. "Winner selected three as jtniae. i . There was altogether a splendid showing ■ of Jerseys from noted breeders in the dis- ' trict. The president. Mr. H. Veale. - nddressed those present, emphasising the ■ nwl for encouraging the youneer folk to " take a keener interest in Jersey iM'eedlng. i He Mien introduced Mr. Alfred Mlssen. one of the standard Judges of Jerseys in New | Zealand. Mr. 'Mlssen gave an interesting ! lecture and demonstration on "Jerseys and I Jersey Breeding." The function is' to be an annual one.
