• DEMONSTRATION IN LONDON.
PETITION TO KING. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, December 18. Following a demonstration in Trafalgar Square by unemployed marchers from the provinces, a deputation attempted to present a petition to the King at Buckingham Palace. When the members of the deputation arrived they were informed that the King could not see them, and they 'were advised to present the petition through the Home Office. Many men trying to march with the demonstrators were stopped at the entrance to the Mall. The petition requested the King to use his prerogative and immediately reassemble Parliament with a view to the passage of effective legislation to alleviate the present suffering and destitution.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
