In connection with a storm of protest raised against the proposal of tin- I'o-t and Telegraph Department to u-e stamp obliterating postmark, uii letters as a means of raising revenue from advertising, it is now practically certain that the scheme will not be proceeded with. The secretary ~f the Department harecornmended the .Minister not to proceed with it. and the Hon. J. G. Coate-. Postmaster-General, states, that lie in tends to advise Cabinet against the project.
