AUCKLAND POWER BOARD.
TAMAKI WEST SUPPLY.
LICEXISIXiG OK WEREMEN*. At yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Power Board (Mr. W. .T. Holdsworth presiding), the request of Tamaki West for current was considered. The engineer to the Board (Mr. Alex. IWyllie) reported that it would not be possible to supply the Tamaki West district until the Horahora supply be available, and that work would take about eighteen months longer. He recommended offering a bulk supply at a point on the Tamaki West boundary nearest to the Penrose eub-station at a pressure of 6600 volte or thereabouts, and at the rate of £l2 10/ per K.V.A. of the maximum load per annum. The Board adopted this suggestion. In response to the Local Bodies Labourers' Union it was decided that when work lies outside the two section area of the tramway system, and a man is obliged to travel in order to reach such work further than would be necessary to reach any point within the second section area, he shall be allowed such extra tram fares as may be necessary to cover such distance. In accordance with notice the chairman moved, and it was agreed to make by way of special order, a by-law relating to the licensing of electric wiremen. The by-law provides that no person shall contract or carry out any electrical work unless licensed as a master wireman, and no one except apprentices shall work on any electrical work unless he be a licensed master wireman, a journeyman wireman, or the holder of a provisional license. The by-law sets up an examining -board for the purpose of examining candidates for a license. (Men now licensed by the City Council ■will get an equivalent license from the Board. After March 31st, 1023. no license except that of the Board will be recognised. The fee for a master wireman's license, is £l.
