BEAUTY SPOTS.
j IT- tlie Editor.! j -ir. - Referring to correspondence in I the "Star" about unknown beauty spots clo.-e in Auckland, I would point out that what really is wanted is a short "guide for walkers." and especially strangers, giving the several routes and distances to the very many pleasant places, and away from the tram- routes. If this took the form of the "Swag and Hilly" guide published by the Tourist Department. Sydney, it would meet the want. It is hopeless asking the Tourist Department here to issue such a guide. Perhaps the local Rotarians could assist, and thus aid civic development. This is ony another instance of the deadly inertia of Aucklanders.—l am. etc.. G.
