AT THE NORMAL SCHOOL.
ELOCUTION CONTESTS,
AND PROFICIENCY MEDAL
There was a very interesting com- ] petition in elocution yesterday afternoon 1 among the pupils of the Normal School i for prizes presented by Mr. M. Segedin. < who has for several years been very i generous in his donations. The competition was held in the social hall of < the Training College, a number of parents of the children being present. The ' headmaster of the school (Mr. X. H. R.;. Lav*) presided, and Professor Maxwel. Walker acted as judge. The children ' gave evidence of excellent training. feasor Waiker awarded the prizes to Primer girls. Nancy Ousley: Primer ; -joys, Brian Grieves; Standards 1 and 2 ( eirls, T..>ttie Docl: Standards I and 2 j boys. Wray Tavlor: Standards 3 and * girls, Nancy Kendon; Standards 3 and I 4 boys. Cecil Loflev; Standards 5 and fij girls! Dorothy Mills-. Standards 5 and 6i boys. Jack Sliorland. All the prize i winners were presented with books.) Each year Mr. Sejredin presents a hand-; some gold medal fashioned in imitation' of the school arms, to the most profic-ientj l>ov in Standard YT. This year the lion-' our was won by Gcoffrcv Fu=seil, and: the presentation was made at yesterday I afternoon's gathering. j
