CRIPPLED CHILDREN.

TREATMENT AT KINO GEORGE HOSPITAX. NUMEROUS CURES BEING EFFECTED. The cures that are being effected in connection with crippled children at the King George V. Hospital. Rotorua, were referred to at a meeting of the joint committee of the Auckland centre of the British Red Cross and Order of St. John this morning. The chairman (the Hon. Geo. Fowlds) said that previously every bed was full, and there was a long waiting list, but it appeared that recently cures had been effected somewluit rapidly, and there was praotically no waiting list at present. He understood that almost at once there would be vacant beds, and that any parents with children crippled through "infanI tile paralysis should make application nt ; onco to get their children admitted, for the younger they were taken in hand the better chances there was of permanent cure. Previously there was a long roundabout method in existence for children into the hospital, application having to be made to Wellington. Now , application could be m>-\de direct to the ; officer-in-charge at Rotorua. People did not seem to be aware that there would be vacancies, and were certainly not aware that their children would receive the finest treatment, otherwise there would | be a larger number of applications.
