AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.

PROGRAMME FOR NORTHERN" TOUR. The executive of the Auckland Automobile Association met last evening, Mr. W. Coltman presiding. The secretary, Mr. G. W. Hutchinson, stated that tbe SewmarUet Progress League wished for the support of tbe executive regarding tbe parking of cars at Newmarket. The idea was to ask tbat cars be allowed to be parked In Manukau Road, just beyond the Remuera Road where tbe thoroughfare is being widened, and also near the triangle. The chairman remarked tbat he did not like the idea of parking cars on tbe main road. Tbe road was being widened for a specific purpose, and if they were going to. make it a parking area they were defeating the very object for which the road was being widened. It was decided to send representatives of the association to inspect the proposed sites in conjunction with members of the Newmarket Progress League. A letter was received from the district engineer of the Public Works Department regarding the main south road over the Ranslriri Hills stating that there were about sixty relief workers ln sixteen cooperative parties employed on the deviation. The earthwork would probably be completed before next winter. The present intention was to metal the deviation before opening it for traffic, and It would be necessary to allow all next winter for the settletalent of the larger swamp fllllngs before they were metalled. The date of completion could not very well be fixed, as much would depend on the weather early next spring. Mesrs. Hennlng,- Grayson nnd King agreed to Inspect the deviation and report. An itinerary in connection with the proposed northern run of members of the association was submitted. Oars will leave Auckland on Jan'iary 'SI and proceed via Warkworth and Mangawal to Wbangarel. On January 28 they will go on to Hukerenul, Kawahawa, Obaeawal. and Kaikohe. On tbe following day Whangaroa, Kaitaia and Awanui will be visited and sports will be held at the Ninety Mile Beach on January 30. On January 31 they will leave Kaitaia and proceed via Hereklno and Obaeawal to Kaikohe. There will be a run to Pahta on February 1 and a launch trip to Russell. On the next day they will leave Obaeawal for Dargaville, and on February 3 will return home.
