The. fire at the Blackball mine took a seri.us turn early this morning and all the coal producing sections are being scaled and the mine being flooded. Valuable machinery is affected. It is now believed that the mine will be closed for several months, causing unemployment for over two hundred men. The West Coast Christmas trade has fairly poor prospects owing to mining stoppages and the shipping trouble.
