At the welcome home carnival held last evenine in honour of Miss Gwitha Shan., the champion lady swimmer, given at Te Aro batbs by the Wellington Centre of tbe New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. Miss Sliand easily won the 220 yds. invitation race, lowering her own prevlcns New Zealand record by 10 2-ss. She came within 1 2-5s of Miss Fanny Durack's time.
