ANGLES OBNOXIOUS.

■ ■■< i ■ "GO STRAIGHT ACROSS." PEDESTRIANS' STREET TRAFFIC. It is proposed by the City Council to introduce a by-law making it compulsory on pedestrians to cross direct from kerb to kerb at busy street corners within the bounds of spaces marked by white lines. The object is to prevent them crossing at angles, which is considered dangerous and distracting to traffic. A draft of the proposed by-law was submitted to Council last night, when the Mayor stated that the proposal was to first institute the new rule at the intersection of Quay Street with Queen Street, and Little Queen Street and Customs Street East and West. The draft was approved of, and pending confirmation the white lines guiding pedestrian traffic will be placed in the roadways at tbe intersections mentioned. sothat the public might become used to the innovation.
