TATTMARtrTrUI. Mr. and Mis. F. Smith, who have been enjoying a six months' tour of England and the Continent, have returned to Taumaruliui. Tbe animal reunion of the local branch of the South African Veterans' Association was held on Friday night. There wag a lar?e attendance and a lengthy toast 11* was gone through.

At the last meeting of the Waimarino Acclimatisation Society it was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Crawley, seconded by Mr. Shout, that the society support the Auckland Society in bringing .pressure to hear on the Government re prohibiting th» -further liberation of Qulnnat salmon In the rivers of the Dominion. * A deal of business was transacted at tpa last meeting of the Ohakune branch of rbe Plunket Society. Plunket Nurse Sell's report for the two months ending August 31 recorded 385 visits of mothers and babies to consultation room, and 73 visits to homes. Mrs. <i. W. Blacklock has returned to Ohakune after an extended visit to England and Scotland. ;Mrs. Blactloek is much improved in health as a Tesult of her visit.
