TURKS IN DARDANELLES.
BRINGING DP SKODA GUNS. BRITISH FLANES ACTIVE LONDON, September ii. Is U reported that the Kemalists spi..f>d Toap Kzine. on the Eastern side of the Dardanelles, and arc threatening Kumkalc. an important key to the position of the Dardaueilcs. It is also reported that the Kemalists are bringing up big Skoda batteries, while British aeroplanes are Hying over the Nationalist lines.— (Ketiter.) 'Hie ''Times'" Paris correspondent says that Marquis Curzon confessed that the. chief difficulty concerned Eastern Thrace and Adrianople. but his intimation that it is the intention of the British Government to solicit the did of the League of Nations if a deadlock be otherwise reached is regarded as exceedingly important. There is approval of this proposal in French circles. It. would socm that the League is destined tn play a more active part in European diplomacy. Tt is even suggested that Thrace be made autonomous under control of the League if no untoward incident should take the whole matter from the hand., of the diplomatists provoking armed combat, the consequences of which cannot be .foreseen. Franco would bo placed in a most embarrassing position, since she rt solved not to join in any action against the Turks, but she is naturally concerned with tbo possibility of her British ally being: involved in a'dangerous struggle.—'"Times.'*)
