CINEMA FOR SCHOOLS.
A MONTHLY SCREENING. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON", this day. A definite step in the use of the cinema I in education has been taken by the Minister of 1-ducation. The lion. C. J. Parr i stated to-day that he was satisfied some | years would elapse before it was possible !to inst-al in individual schools a satisfactory scheme of visual instruction, and he had therefore adopted an alternative 6Chrmc. Arrangements had been made jwith a well known agency to provide in as many centres as possible a programme of educational interest, and approved by the Department. A small i-harae of threepence or sixpence for admission will be made, but. '.in mild win be debarred on this account from seeing the pictures. I A monthly screening on Saturday afternoons is proposed, and teachers will be told in advance the subject of the picture, so that they may use it in preliminaryinstruction. An agency has agreed to give live per cent of the proceeds to the schools, and the Department will incur no expense.
