CAMBRIDGE DAFFODIL EXHIBITION.
• I LIST OF AWARDS. CAMBRIDGE. Friday. Yesterday and to-day the 16th annual show of the Cambridge Daffodil Society Is being beld in the recentiv-erected Presbyterian Memorial Hall, and is one of the most successful shows vet held by the society. The local show this year Is fully up to the standara of excellence la blooms shown at previous exhibitions, the entries being very numerous and of high order in quality. The judge. Mr. A. K. Gnndrod, stated that the show was aa all-round good one, being well up to the standard, and better than the average. Ia many sections he had considerable difficulty in. making the awards. The judge referred to the increase In the novice classes—a good sign for any show. Oa the opening afternoon the president, Mr. A. I-.. Hopkirk aud the Mayor, Mr. 3, Lewis, addressed those present. CHAMPION BLOOMS. The champion magnl coronatl bloom (long trumpet) of the show was a magnificent yellow trumpet, a seeaitng raised hy i i llo P k irk. wbi.-h elicited great admiration. A very fine-coloured Croesus, exhibited by Miss Hopkirk. was awarded the championship among the Incomparntulls class, the champion Parvi Coronal 1 bloom was a nice Homer, by Mr. Frank 1 enn, and champion Leedsii. an exceedingly large and beautiful Crystal Queen, grown by Mr. Weightman, of Tir.iu. TOINTS TRIZES. Following are the winners of Ibe variouspoints prizes, together with the scores ..f the runners-up:—Daffodils (open .-las-.. Miss Hopkirk 00 [mints, Frank Perm -7; daftodils (novices). V. X. r. Downard -••".. Mrs. c. \V. Kecley 16, <}. S. Da v 11: decorative (open), Mrs. 'C. W. Keelev -I, Mrs. Hugh Ferguson S; decorative 'novices). Mrs. E. J. White, S points. 'Miss 1IopkirI:"s daffodils w,.re a magnlncent lot on the whole, being well crown and well staged. This lady well deserved I her many wins. She scored no le- s than thirteen first and four second prizes. | Among the many beautiful flowers exhibited by Miss Hopkirk were some fine specimens of Bath's Flame. Croesus. Kol.espierre, Fleetwlng, Michael. Wear<unle Perfection, Peter Barr. aud many others too numerous to mention. Mr. Weightman, of Tirau, had some choice blooms iiiiioiil' Ills exliibits. Mi Crystal Queens and Ivorines attracting much attention. Mr. r*ilwtn James had some exceedingly pretty blooms among lii-i exhibits. There were not maiiv of the '■""*_' e A ana liU,rc expensive varieties of daffodils exhibited. One of the most pleasing features of the whole show was the keen competition, among tbe classes for novices. Tin; society is doing wisely in encouraging this section, and judging by the bloom-* staged by novices, many of" these will ■make competitors who will have to ho reckoned with in the open classes in tho ruture. M r . j*. N". It. Downard, Mrs. i* >>. Iveeley and Mr. G. S. Day, the principal prize winners in this section, all snowed many excellent blooms.
