MOTOR CAR THIEVES' SYNDICATE.
During the last three years T2S.ri.Vt cars were stolen In iS large American ell les. New York having taken the lead. The value of these cars is estimated at nearly £30.000.000. The annual loss throughout the l'nited States is put at approximately £20.000.000. The systematl.- manner in which these thefts have been carried out has led the police to believe that a great car thieving syndicate exists. Operations are conducted with remarkable efficiency, and there la every evidence that large staffs of expert nier-hanies are employed. At headquarters, the manufacturers' marks and license plates are removed from the stolen cars, which are rebuilt in such a manner as to defy reevignition. They are then sent to all parts cf the country and sold at bargain prices.
