Word was received here to-day of the • death at Dunedin of Mr. Alfred Roberts, J chief postmaster, Hamilton, at tlie asze ,of 53 years. He had been 3S years in i the service, respectively as postmaster lat Temiika, chief clerk at Wellington, . postmaster at I'etone, inspector of the C.1.0. at Wellington, postmaster at Hawera. chief postmaster at Thames. He came to Hamilton in December of . last year. Mr. Roberts died following an operation for cancer, and leaves a 1 widow, adult son and daughter.
