BIRKENHEAD AFFAIRS.

Interest was displayed at Birkdale last night in the various propositions formulated by the Birkenhead Borough Council, the meeting being largely attended. Mr. J. \V. Dodson presided. The mayor, Mr. J. W. Court, detailed the loan schemes, and said the roading proposals should be definitely decided upon at the next council meeting, after which the loan poll could be held as soon as le<*al procedure allowed. Birkdalc, he explained, was not included in the special drainage area. Electricity, footpath-, transit service, fire brigade, and water supply reticulation, however, affected the whoie boroujrh. Rout urged the opening up of the Birkdale Tark of 4J acres, and suggested a track should be made to Christmas Tree, beach, which was used largely by local residents.
