The Mount Kden Fire Brigade celebrated its thirty-third anniversary at a social evening held last night, when liremen representing practically every lrigadv in the Auckland district were j present. During the, evening the Deputy- | Mayor of Mount Kden. Mr. E. H. Potter.! presented the following with bare aud I medale: Captain Williams, who has 33 years' service to his credit; Secretary Honey coin be. 10 years; Fireman J. Hunt, 11 years; J. Campbell, 0 years; C. P. Surman, T. Edwards, and R. Prisk. o years. In making the presentations Mr. Potter , said that lie hoped that thu time was not < far distant when the district would be equipped with an up-to-date fire alarm] system and a new station with sleeping j quarters for the men. Such iryirove-1 nwnts were urgently needed, as the Mount Kden district had now a population of over 13,0011. Captain T. .1 .Watts, travelling superintendent fyr New Zealand, expressed fiisj pleasure at seeing eight members wearing the gold star. If their times of service were totalled up it would amount to 230 years. A strange lase wae made out before Mr. J. E. Wilson. S.M.. this morning why an owner should be given possession of a house he haS recently purchased. A | medical man gave evidence that lie had I attended thp applicant's children for bronchitis, influenza, pneumonia, diphtheria. scnr>t fever, and laryngitis. The doctor held it was imperative that the family should remove to a le*n bluak .situation. The tenant then proceeded to show that his family had ako sufiV'red. Medical certificates' submitted showed the children had typhoid fever, gastritis, and were also anaemic. An order was' made for possession to be given.
