KINGSLAND OVERHEAD BRIDGE
WILL COST £30,000. RESIDENTS' SHARE OF COST. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON", Wednesday. "The offer of the local bodies concerned of £3000 as a contribution towards the cost of a. bridge over the railway line near the station at Kinjrsland is totally inadequate," stated tke Minister of Railways, in reply to a question by Mr. V. H. Potter what was the department's intention in connection with the structure. The member for Roskill mentioned that he had consistently asked the Minister to act in this matter, as the construction of the bridge concerned a large nnd growing population in the Roskill district. Until the bridge was built it would Tint be possible to extend the trams there. Mr. Outhrie said that though the matter was not of grave departmental concern he thought something could be done if a suitable basis of contribution was found. He suggested it should be a fiftyfifty basis. The cost of the bridge was estimated at between £20.000 and f 30,000. He admitted that Mr. Potter had | pressed the matter in season and out of j season very strongly. He concluded that j Mr. McViily, General Manager of Rail-! ways, was going North, and would inquire into this matter.
