Committee System.—The chairmen of the respective Standing Committees recommended the continuance of the present system of administration, the Standing Committee considering correspondence and matters to eonio before the i-ounci] meetings, and reof business. Mr. Hadfield did not favour this course, pnd Mr. Walton also opposed this procedure. The recommendation was adopted. Borough Map—The need of an up-tfi-d.ite borough map was emphasised on account of the various proposals tinder consideration, and it.was resolved to obtain prices for the preparation of a ' complete plan of the norougli on a scale of three chains to the inrh. » Whajf Approach.—A recommendation of the Werks Committee that the lower end of Hinetnoa Street to the wharf be spalle<l and finished in accordance with the reniainder of the construction of this street, and that the defects on the pathway be repaired, was deferred pending the estimated vost being furnished Beach Roar] Deviation.—lt was decided to inform Mr. A. G. Jaxrett that it is not possihle tq obtain a reasonable grade at the top of Beach Koad, and that the Council looks to the residents in the locality to aid In a solution of the matter. Water.—lt was decided to suggest to the T-alto Takapunn. Board of Control that the weed cut out of the Lake be drawn up as far larly owing to the presence of' inusßeM amongst it, pending the burning of the weed. Jas intended.
