NAURU ADMINISTRATION.

AUSTRALASIAN RIGHTS. (Received 10.30 a.m.) SYDXEY, this day. The "Sydney Morning Herald" in a leader headed "Xaurn Trusteeship" says that criticisms of the mandates commission's administration of the island is rather unfair and unjustifiable. After reviewing the position the "Herald" adds: "The truth is, we suspect that certain trading interests, former suppliers of the Commonwealth perhaps, or maybe competitors in other regions who would like a share in the wealth of Xauru, arc trying to exert their influence upon the mandates commission so as to create an agitation against Australia and Australian rights. Our just and proper defence against criticisms of the commission is that v the responsible mandatory power is either the Imperial Council of Prime Ministers, or His Majesty's Government, that our administration measures have been unimpeachable, and that any national benefit derived from control of the island is recognised as a fair reward for our war effort."—.(A. and X.Z. Cable.)
