Sir,—May I suggest that the voting idea advocated by your correspondent is doomed to utter failure, and ask, Has he considered what attitude the people of New Zealand would take up in the event of an Asiatic invasion'; Rome- | thing might be accomplished if the. leaders of Christianity set an example by following in a practical way He who said, "Love your enemies.'' which, of course, would imply the closing of church pulpits against recruiting, and such trash as '"He who dies for England sleeps with God" being cast to the rubbish heap. Tan one wonder why it has been said, "The last war goes flown to the eternal disgrace of the Christian Church?" But the choice is still offered— The Crown of Caesar or the Crown of Thorns, and the Church says . . . I am. etc.. RETURNED AXD AWAKEXED.
