ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.
IXI'UKASE IX BUSINESS. At the Power Board's meeting thi? afternoon the engineer (Mr. Alex. W'yllie) reported that during the quarter ending June 30 gnnd progress was made at the power station with the erection of the new boiler and tbe 3000 k.w. turbo generator. The auxiliary plant in connection with those was also erected. It is expected to have these in operation about the end of August. The pile driving for the extension of tbe power station building was completed, and r considerable portion of the raft completed. This work will be finished by the middle of August. The work on the circulating water Humes has made good progress. The Quay Street subway was completed. The total cost of the subway was £1fi.31i7 IS/2. The amount provided in the estimates was £18,000. Tbe substation building has been completed, and good progress made with the erection of the machinery. It is hoped to have it ready for operation about the end of August. The cost of the Kingsland build ing was £8431 1/5. The amount provided jiu the estimate was £8750. The mo-t urgent work ahead of us i- the change over of the Hobson Street Station and the provision of more power in the existing area. Figures for the quarter ending June 30. I!>__. arc as under, the corresponding quarter of last year being shown in parentheses: -Units sold. 3.750,675 (£3.----jISS.4-6): income, £12.(104 1/10 (£33,----•!0I 15/): working expenses, £19,187 4/1 ! The interest for the present quarter does not include interest on the new loan just raided.
