The area included in the lending library has been doubled, j and the large body of general literature transferred to the new room is much more accessible to su'b_cri>cr3. Visitors to the library have j direct access to the shelves when consuiting these books. Besides the eD largement of the lending library, the extension of the building prov.des a ' basement t'.iat will be used as a stock- • room for books overflowing from the general reference library. The shclti room thus secured will accommodate j several thoui-and.i of books, easily 1 accessible to the librarian, and readily I consulted by readers through the I medium of the catalogue.
